HELP! Our iModela demo is a possibility!

Last month, I shared videos by engineer Carlos Asmat as he demonstrated the new iModela 3D hobby milling machine. Additionally, I mentioned that I had shot a request to Carlos asking that he make a "game piece" for us and post a video of its creation.

Good news! Carlos and I have been in contact, and he's all for it! However, he states, "I have not tried 3D shapes but, but I believe it can take STL files. As for 2D designs, a SVG will be most suitable for me."

I have no idea what that means!

Any techies out there who can help? We'd like to make a simple infantry piece or vehicle for a war game. The manuals for the iModela can be found HERE.

E-mail me with any advice.

  1. STL is a file extension for 3D drawing files. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STL_(file_format) ). There are a number of 3D software packages out there, some for free, but all pretty complex to use. Unless someone gives you a file from a 3D model, say from having built it for Shapeways (http://www.shapeways.com/) you are probably at a dead-end unless you learn 3D modeling.

    Sorry.
